Donations are greatly needed for an
auction to benefit Randy Smith. Randy was born and raised in Frog Pond and
has been a Stanly County resident ever since. Randy and his wife, Sheila,
have owned the corner mart BP in Locust for over 23 years. He has
volunteered at Locust Elementary coaching the football team in the past. For
the past 3 years, he has been mowing grasses in the community. Both Randy
and Sheila, have always helped out customers who came in their store. Randy
was always willing to give you some gas if you were ever short on cash.
Their corner mart is a true example of how a small town community store
should be run.
At the moment, however, Randy needs our help. On Saturday, January 7th,
Randy suffered a stroke. He has lost complete control of his right hand. His
vision has been greatly damaged, and his speech and comprehension is slow.
Randy and Sheila have no health insurance and medical bills are rolling in.
On Friday, March 3rd, Classic Auctions will be hosting a Benefit Auction at
7:00pm. In order to make this auction a success, your donations are greatly
needed. We are looking for new or slightly used items, gift certificates,
autographed prints, and many more. Please think of anyone you know who might
be able to donate something that can be auctioned off.
If you would like to help the Smith family, please contact me ASAP. Helping
others is what this small town is great for. Lets show Randy and his family
how much we appreciate him.
